Font

The font dates from 1875, a typical Victorian design. It is a focal point when new members, infant or adult, are baptised into membership of the church. The font stands where once was the Lady Chapel. The font's original location was in the northwest corner of the church that is now the Chapel of Remembrance.
The picture on the left shows the carved Angel at the top of the font lid.The colourful cage surrounding the angel is part of the chains that go up to a counter balance. The counter balance allows the heavy lid to be easily lifted.

One of the Windows, behind the font, was dedicated to Dr Stainthorpe (Stammers) shows the symbolic links with St Luke (the physician)including the emblem of the winged bull.
The other window is the Bramley memorial window by Stammers that includes a partly eaten apple an illusion to the family name.
